Woman charged after police unravel alleged nationwide Facebook Marketplace scam

A Melbourne woman has since been charged Victoria Police have uncovered several suspected Facebook Marketplace scams that have claimed at least 20 victims across the country.
The 37-year-old Donvale woman offered high-end fashion items for sale on social media from April to May this year, police allege.
After her customers purchased the items, police allege the woman kept the money and never shipped the items to the customers.
The alleged scammer’s victims are believed to be from across the country.
“The scams are worth thousands of dollars,” police said in a statement.
The woman was arrested at her home in Donvale yesterday and charged with 25 counts of obtaining property by deception.
She was granted bail and is expected to appear at Ringwood Magistrates’ Court today.
