An elderly couple found dead with gunshot wounds in their Staffordshire bungalow were “devoted” to each other, a neighbor has said.
Dora Lees, 77, was found with gunshot wounds to the chest at their home in Mair Park, Staffordshire, next to her husband Peter, 78, who also had gunshot wounds, on April 20.
Staffordshire Police said at the time: “We are continuing to investigate the deaths of Peter and Dora but would like to reassure the public that we are not looking for anyone else in connection with this tragic incident. Their family continues to be supported by specialist staff.’
A neighbor told local media that the couple were “devoted” to each other. Peter had cancer and had been discharged from Royal Stoke University Hospital earlier that day, according to the neighbour, who said he had spoken to the couple’s son.
Inquests into both deaths were adjourned in May. Referring to Dora Lees, North Staffordshire Coroner Daniel Howe said at the time: “She was found at home with what is believed to be multiple gunshot wounds to the chest.”
Opening the inquest into Peter Lees, the coroner added: “He was found at his home address with gunshot wounds which may have contributed to the cause of death but nothing that can be identified today so the inquest is adjourned and the whole family will be notified.”
