Leicester confirm appointment of Ruud van Nistelrooy as manager | Leicester City

Ruud van Nistelrooy has been confirmed as Leicester manager on a contract until June 2027, less than three weeks after left Manchester Unitedbut will not take charge of Saturday’s game against Brentford.
Van Nistelrooy will be in the stands there and first team coach Ben Dawson will be in the duo supported by coaches Danny Alcock and Andy Hughes. Van Nistelrooy will be presented by Leicester on Monday and his first game will be at home to West Ham on Tuesday.
The former Netherlands international succeeds Steve Cooper, who was fired on sunday with Leicester 16th, one point above the relegation zone. Van Nistelrooy joined United as Ten Hag’s assistant last summer and was appointed interim manager at the end of October following Ten Hag’s sacking.
He recorded three wins and a draw from his four matches. Two of the wins came against Leicester, a 5-2 win in the Carabao Cup, followed by a 3-0 league triumph in his final game in charge.
Van Nistelrooy’s previous experience as a first-team head coach came at PSV in the 2022-23 season, where he won the Dutch Cup before resignation less than a month later, citing a lack of support at the club.
